This week I probably spent over 2.5 hours reading a “short” chapter for my Anthropology class. My mind was not focused and I was not retaining the information present on the page causing it to take hours. It was 17 pages filled with information that was the least bit interesting. I took pages and pages of notes expecting a pop quiz knowing how my Professor is. The next day we did have a short quiz. I also tried to search for cheaper forms in which I could purchase my textbook for my Anthropology class. After weighing out the pros and cons I am leaning more towards buying the e-book version of the textbook. After this labor log is complete, I will have to look over my syllabus for my Art Class. There’s videos and articles I must read and watch in order to have more background knowledge for my Professor’s lessons. <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":1,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":331}”>

      <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":0,"335559739":160,"335559740":259}”>

      This week’s writing I took about 2 hours writing notes based on my Anthropology chapter. I also took notes in each of my other two classes (Math and Art). I usually take more notes than I have too. In Art I took notes off the powerpoint as well as anything coming out my Professor’s mouth. For Math, I mainly just wrote and solved math questions off the board. <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":1,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":331}”>

      <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":0,"335559739":160,"335559740":259}”>

      At the beginning of my Anthropology class my friend skimmed and flipped through my notes, she laughed in disbelief of how excessive I note-took. She told me that there was no need for me to spend so many hours taking those notes and worrying over a “potential” pop quiz since their only about four questions anyways. She was right. <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":1,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":331}”>

      I realized several things during my first week of college. I learned not to do my readings for classes the night before, especially when there almost 20 pages long. I realized that the point of notes is to be short, quick and straight to the point. I shouldn’t be writing pages and pages of notes about the same thing. I realized I was literally re-writing the textbook in my notebook in the end, which I will avoid doing next time. I also took the pop quiz and got one question wrong (it was a trick question that many students got wrong too, luckily it was a practice quiz and would not affect my grade). I also came to the conclusion to purchase the electronic version of my textbook not only cause it’s cheaper but just incase I had purchased a physical copy and it rained or something spilt on it. The next thing I noticed was I should always check over my syllabuses and see what’s due each week. For my Art class I didn’t remember to review the links posted under the topics we were going over the following day and it put me to a disadvantage. Now I have to review last week’s and this week’s links, which in total add up to about 19 links to go over. I have also come to the conclusion that during my 3 and a half hour breaks I should be doing something productive. Instead of watching Youtube videos and hanging out with friends, I should most likely go to the library and start reviewing my future homework assignments for the week.<span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":1,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":331}”>

      In terms of collaborating I assume this means work done with others. I helped my friend sign up for our online course for math since she was having technical difficulties. I also had to work in groups for my Art class to analyze a Beyonce and Jay Z video taken place at the Louvre. In FIQWS we also formed groups and exchanged contact information just incase future confusion in the class came up. <span data-ccp-props=”{"201341983":1,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":331}”>
