Reading the two works, the authors were trying to make their point across how important rhetoric and visual rhetoric are, and how much it can impact us and the people around us. The word rhetoric is much deeper than it lets on with the ethos, pathos, logos, and Kairos. Ethos is basically bringing in the credibility of what others are speaking about. Pathos is the use of feelings when you’re talking. Logos is reasoning and logic in your arguments and ideas. Then there’s Kairos, which is the timing of when you speak and your word choice. These concepts, as stated by the authors, will assist in helping you understand others and allow you to strengthen your communication skills. Visual rhetoric is mainly used to tell or persuade the reader, but the use of it is important when using multimedia writing because of its interactive nature as stated by the author. The use of colors and placement of the visuals can actually envision into the reader’s mind and give them a good and lasting impression, making it effective as well as creating picturesque and expressive meanings.  But it’s because of those terms that communication has evolved over time and is still as effective, if not more, as it was years ago. Like the authors had pointed out, we use these terms in our everyday lives whether it’s in person or in the virtual world. Discovering the importance of rhetoric becomes significant when you realize that you have been using this concept even without prior knowledge. Overall, rhetoric is not simply just a term used for deception, but it’s used for so much more and allows us to dive into deeper topics with its use.
